Love has 4 letters, so does Hate.
Friends has 7 letters, so does Enemies.
Truth has 5 letters, so does Lying.
Positive has 8 letters, so does Negative.
Above has 5 letters, so does Under.
Right has 5 letters, so does Wrong.
Heal has 4 letters, so does Hurt.
This means life is like a double-edged sword... so transform every negative side into positivity.
We should all choose the better side of life.

ACC Corner – Joe Rochel, ACC Chairperson
Hello again Fellow Carolina Shores Community homeowners,
We are still in the winter season and the ACC would like to help everyone know what issues are still in need of explaining for clarity.
The ACC is still seeing new roofs being replaced without a CSPOA Permit form. This is happening on an average of three (3) per month. This is a violation of the DOR as well as the Rules & Regulations that will result in a fine of $100 per occurrence. I want everyone to know the Roof contractor does obtain the permit from Town of Carolina Shores, but they cannot obtain the CSPOA Permit. This can only be obtained by the homeowner. PLEASE LET YOUR NEIGHBORS KNOW THAT THE FAILURE TO OBTAIN A CSPOA ROOF PERMIT IMMEDIATELY CAUSES A ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR ($100) FINE. There is no reason not to get the permit from the CSPOA office located at 17 Lakeview Court. Applications can also be printed from our website at www.carolinashorespoa.org and submitted to the office. There is no cost for the permit.
Please note that the ACC does not issue fines. These are directed to the CSPOA Board of Directors for their decision based on the event or violation. This includes all new homes under construction.
Please note that when a member of Carolina Shores Community fills out a “Request for Inspection” form, the person requesting the inspection needs to fill out the top section for address and date. The next two sections are to be left blank for the office personnel to fill out. The “Request Made By” section on the form needs to be filled out by the member filing the form. The ACC has recommended that you submit a picture with your request along with the Request for Inspection form. Doing this simple act will insure that there are no errors when we go out to locate the violation. Please note the “Request for Inspection” form must be submitted in person or mailed in. They will no longer be taken over the phone.
REISSUE OF THIS: The HVAC units need to be screened from view as stated in the DOR Section 6, Paragraph #19. The screening needs to be placed so the unit cannot be seen from any angle when viewed from the street or recreation area. This will sometimes mean the sides of the unit will need to be screened. These restrictions are the same for above ground propane tanks and generators placed alongside the home. NOTE: lately this has been an issue that appears to have the highest number of Requests for Inspections that are being submitted by community homeowners. These are not always submitted by the CSPOA ACC Volunteers.
There is a rise of dog walking due to the warmer temperatures and therefore an increase of owners failing to pick up after their dogs. Please note this is a violation of the DOR and Rules & Regulations and is a fineable offence. Please do the right thing and pick up after your dog regardless of size. Thank you.
The Requests for Inspections or Permits from the ACC cannot be set up for a specific time of the day. The days that the ACC goes out for these items is only done on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. During periods of high volume there may be a delay up to a week for these items. Please make sure to request a permit early enough to allow time for the ACC to issue you the permit or inspection needed.
Thank you.

Garden Club – Charlotte Csernecky
Our February 8, 2023 meeting was well attended. Lindsay Adams, nursery manager of Hughes and Hughes Nursery, gave a presentation on Gardening in NC. She gave a wonderful presentation and handouts.
On Wednesday, March 8, we will be holding our
annual fundraiser. It will be a Card/Game party at the POA clubhouse from 11:30
a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 and includes lunch and drinks. Tickets can
be obtained by contacting Sharon Robbins at 910-579-8625 or Happy Mullins at
240-354-4290. Group money should be together in one envelope with names of each
player and game being played written on the outside of the envelope. Tickets
are going fast. If you don't have a group, we can add you to a group that needs
more players. Remember this is a fundraiser for the West Brunswick High School Seniors’
scholarships. Last year we were able to give them four $1000 scholarships.
The Carolina Shores Garden Club is open to
anyone who has a desire to enhance their gardening skills and knowledge, or
simply enjoys and appreciates the beauty of nature. It is also a great way to
meet new friends and socialize.
The Garden Club meets the second Wednesday of the month, September to May, at 1:00 p.m. at the POA clubhouse, 17 Lakeview Ct. Dues are $10/year. Please contact Mary Conover at 703-409-9612 if you have any questions.

Book Discussion Group – Susie Riggs
If you think that a story about an octopus might not be your cup of tea, you might want to read our February selection, Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. The tender story of a woman who works nights in an aquarium cleaning and caring for the animals, including one very bright octopus named Marcellus, was thoroughly enjoyed by all members present at this month’s meeting. This warm, funny, heartbreaking novel is full of gentle characters who help each other as they struggle with loneliness, family, aging, and loss.
Our next meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17, in the main room of the POA clubhouse. We will be discussing two books, Where the Forest Meets the Stars by Glendy Vanderah and Sunflowers Beneath the Snow by Teri Brown. Members may choose to read one or both of the selections. As always, we welcome any interested Carolina Shores residents.
Knit ‘n Natter – Diana Mardall
The knitting group will meet this month on the following Mondays, March 13 and 27, 2023, at 6:30 p.m.
If you have any questions, email me at limeylady70@gmail.com or call me at 910-575-7804.
Quilting Group – Gloria Gustavson
As another page of the calendar gets turned for a new year, we again extend an invitation to quilters to join us on the Second and Fourth Fridays of the month at 10:00 a.m. at the POA clubhouse. We have on-going charity projects and our individual projects that we work on. All are welcome. Need more information: give me a call at 910-297-0066.
Care Team – Flo Pflaster
Care Team Volunteers
I would like to update this list. As of now, there are 59 people who had let me know they would be available to help with neighbors’ needs at times. I get few responses, mostly from the same 3-4 people. So, if you no longer wish to be on this list, please text me at 910-368-1070 or email me at dfp324@atmc.net
If you would like to stay on this list and would prefer to get notifications by email instead of through Nextdoor, please email me at dfp324@atmc.net and I will send out a group email when someone needs help in our community.
If you need help, please continue to let me know by calling the above number or my home at 910-575-6243.
Flo Pflaster
We have many volunteers on the Care Team, ready and willing to help our neighbors with temporary assistance. I will do whatever I can to find someone to help - all you need to do is call or email me!
Thank you,
